This blog is about COLT men and models from all periods, starting with the studio's foundation in 1968 with a pronounced focus on the 1980s. On occasion, though, you'll find the odd post that contains non-COLT content. This blog is for adult audiences only. All men depicted on The Men of Colt Blog are at least 21 years of age or older.

Wifebeaters

... no idea how the term wifebeater originated ... it's kind of a funny expression in a way, although I'd of course have to agree with Ruth aka Frances Conroy who, when having a similar discussion with her son, Dave (aka Michael C. Hall) in my all-time favourite TV series, Six Feet Under, says that "there is nothing funny about beating up one's wife!".

Howsoever - as I neither know how the tern came about nor what exactly classifies as a so-called wifebeater - I have an inkling not all of the items below would qualify.

But one thing I'm sure about - each and every stud below who wears the item in question is a fucking hot stud, whether with or without a wifebeater to cover his rockhard, muscular chest!

Two key examples of 'wifebeaters' in movies are James Caan in "The Godfather" (beats up Talia Shire) and Robert DeNiro in "Raging Bull" (beats up Theresa Saldana). Caan's wearing is definitely iconic - and hot!

To Tony: Thanks for your comment! But wouldn't you agree that one of the most iconic wifebeater appearances in legit film is that of Marlon Brando alias Stanley Kowalski in 'A Streetcar named Desire'???

Hot post! I think you are correct RHC. I think that's where the term came from originally.

These men are certainly HOT! In Australia we call them "singlets" or "tank tops"! But what's in a name!? It's the man inside that matters!
